A potent winter storm is poised to deliver a mixture of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain across much of the Eastern US through Thursday. Snow and ice are likely from the Midwest to the Northeast, and heavy rains and possible flooding are expected across the Southeast.
Staten Island Chuck predicted an early spring this year — but the weather gods are not being kind. The city will be hit with yet another snowstorm Wednesday, and temperatures will hover around freezing. The National Weather Service is projecting one to two inches of snow for Wednesday, with flurries kicking off at around 3 p.m. and continuing through 8 p.m., when the storm will turn into a wintry mix. “Temperatures on Wednesday evening will be...

"IT HAPPENED!" the National Weather Service office in Las Vegas tweeted when the first flakes of snow were reported at the famous gambling city's McCarran Airport Sunday night. Social media soon exploded with photos and videos of snow on the famed Strip. Snow falls periodically in the Las Vegas Valley, but it's unusual for it to be as widespread as it was over the weekend. Higher elevation areas on the western and southern edges of the Las Vegas...

Authorities have reopened two major Southern California highways that were closed because of ice and snow, stranding hundreds of motorists overnight. The California Highway Patrol says traffic is moving again in northbound lanes of Interstate 5 north of Los Angeles. The southbound side was reopened a few hours earlier at the Grapevine. Interstate 15 is open again at the Nevada state line after it was closed after multiple weather-related accidents.
They weren't exactly deploying the snowplows onto the Las Vegas Strip and they weren't shoveling out the entrances to the casinos, either. But, still, it snowed in Las Vegas on Sunday night. For a city that was built in the sand and boasts giant replicas of a pyramid, the Eiffel Tower and virtually the entire borough of Manhattan, it was met with wonderment and surprise in a place ...
If you’re watching newsreel footage of an eruption, and don’t live near a volcano yourself, you may find yourself wondering, “Why would anyone choose to live there?”

Heavy snowfall is predicted for parts of northern Arizona. The National Weather Service says Flagstaff is expected to get up to 15 inches of snow by Monday with Payson getting up to 12 inches and Show Low and Prescott up to 10 inches. Following some quick-hitting iciness late on Sunday, a much larger storm is poised to roll up the Eastern Seaboard, bringing wintry weather to the Midwest and Northeast at midweek. "Since this storm will have a great deal of moisture available to it from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, a substantial amount of precipitation is likely," said to AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys. While rounds of heavy, flooding rainfall and even some...
